UTV Motion Pictures has won a case against Percept Pictures in a copyright dispute involving UTV’s film Shoebite, directed by Shoojit Sircar. The case had been filed by Percept, which had sought to restrain UTV and Sircar from infringing on the copyright of the script and dialogue of their film, Johnny Walker.
An order was passed in favour of Percept in 2008, restraining UTV from proceeding with the shooting of Shoebite. UTV appealed against the order, which was then pending with a mediator appointed by the Delhi High Court. The court has finally dismissed the case filed by Percept.
